Talksicology Episode 62

Surf's Up

Episode Synopsis

This week on the Talksicology podcast, hosts Jason and Joseph welcome a very special international guest, Sandi James. Sandi is a therapist, psychologist, eating disorder, and trauma specialist with over a decade of experience helping individuals and families - when she isn’t traveling, surfing, or giving lectures.

Sandi’s work goes beyond the arm-chair, she brings her love of surfing into her therapy practice with Surf Therapy for anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder. Sandi says surf therapy provides a sense of community and belonging, which can be especially beneficial for those who may feel isolated or disconnected.

Sandi brings up the often overlooked reality that the recovery process can sometimes cause more trauma, even unintentionally. From harsh detox, to well-meaning but sometimes cohesive family dynamics - how do we heal from “healing?” And what the heck is a Genogram?

Join us for episode 62 to hear the whole story, and what Sandi says might be our best path forward - plus a little punk rock history to set the mood for this week’s Talksicology.
