Drug rehab addresses the behavioral elements of drug use and addiction, helping people safely and effectively confront the origins and sustaining factors of their dependency, and develop healthy coping mechanisms to help them avoid relapse. Dysfunctional and negative thought patterns can both trigger and result from drug abuse. Prolonged and unaddressed use of substances like heroin, prescription opioids, cocaine, methamphetamine, synthetic marijuana and others create serious and potentially permanent changes in the brain’s chemistry that require deep behavioral intervention. Drug rehab is an integral part of drug addiction treatment process, and allows participants to gain the behavioral tools they need to rebuild their lives and relationships. Recovery Unplugged offers targeted and in-depth drug rehab using traditional practices and cutting-edge music-based therapies. We’re ready to help you replace the negative thoughts that ring in your ears with your favorite songs.
If you or your loved one are coming to us in need of drug rehab, chances are you’ve experienced profound chaos, dysfunction and pain in your life that brought you to our doorstep. Perhaps you’re estranged from your family, perhaps you’re on your third strike with the law, perhaps you’re finding yourself jobless and scared at a time in your life when you’re supposed to be thinking about retirement. Wherever drug addiction has taken you, the recovery process starts with getting your head right in rehab. Our drug rehab program is designed to help you regain your peace of mind, dignity and mental health so you can live drug-free. Clients learn to integrate music into their long-term recovery and everyday lives. Rehab helps clients mend their relationships with their families, get their careers back on track, cultivate a support system and thrive in their sobriety. Recovery Unplugged offers continued outreach to our alumni as well as social media channels to help our clients receive and offer support and advice to one another as they continue on their recovery journey.
Inpatient or residential drug rehab allows participants to heal in a distraction-free environment, such as a hospital-like setting or treatment center, while they work on overcoming their substance use disorder. Recovery Unplugged offers inpatient care at our drug rehab centers in Lake Worth, FL and Austin, TX. Patients typically stay for an average of 28-30 days, depending upon their progress and other factors, and undergo group therapy, one-on-one counseling with our experienced and qualified therapists, supplemental therapies, and music-focused therapeutic techniques to form a well-rounded and fully formed treatment experience. Participants stay in comfortable, fully appointed residences and enjoy multiple amenities to remain safe and comfortable during their treatment.
The reality of addiction treatment is that, as critical and as important as it is to help people move forward, not everyone can, or needs to, take 30 days out of their lives to spend in an inpatient or residential drug rehab program. Outpatient drug rehab at Recovery Unplugged allows participants to attend multiple weekly treatment sessions while maintaining the flexibility to manage their careers, their families and their lives while not receiving care.
Recovery Unplugged offers outpatient care at our drug rehab facilities in Fort Lauderdale, FL and Austin, TX. While the exact fabric of each client’s program will vary based on their care needs and substance use history, care generally includes a combination of group therapy, individualized counseling and innovative, music-assisted therapy techniques. The intensive outpatient (IOP) drug rehab program consists of five treatment sessions per week.
The Recovery Unplugged PHP drug rehab program is a prolonged and more frequent version of our IOP program for patients who need a higher level of care, but still also need the flexibility to maintain their everyday lives while in treatment. Recovery Unplugged offers targeted and comprehensive PHP drug rehab at our facilities in Fort Lauderdale, FL; Annandale, VA; Kerrville and Austin, TX. Treatment consists of either six or seven treatment sessions per week, depending upon location, and includes group dynamics, psychiatric counseling, supplemental modalities and music-focused interventions to help clients engage existing evidence-based treatment models and more readily embrace rehab.
Addiction recovery is a lifelong endeavor and the timeline for immediate healing is different for every person who walks the path to sobriety. Recovery Unplugged offers customized long-term drug rehab solutions to help clients, safely, effectively and incrementally rebuild their lives and relationships, and address the fallout that has occurred in all areas of their lives due to their substance abuse. Our long-term drug rehab program resources include halfway houses for eligible patients, medication-assisted treatment, ongoing aftercare and logistical support and much more. Clients will have the opportunity to build a solid foundation under them, reconnect with their loved ones, get the help they need for any associated medical issues and gradually reintegrate themselves back into their everyday lives.
Drug rehab at Recovery Unplugged relies heavily on the integration of music-based therapies like composition and songwriting, production, performance, listening and analysis and more. Connecting with music on an active or passive level helps clients unlock dormant emotions and open up about the root causes of their addiction. Through our music-based therapies as well as events like our open-mic and Feel-Good Friday meetings, clients experience unfiltered emotional release.
Recovery Unplugged offers multiple drug rehab program models, including inpatient, outpatient and partial hospitalization, to accommodate each client’s unique care needs and lifestyle. Recovery Unplugged is committed to helping you or the person you care about use music to change your perceptions, attitudes and perspective for the better, so you can live the life you deserve in lasting sobriety and peace of mind. Recovery Unplugged integrates music-assisted therapy technique into every part of our clinical rehab programming, including but not limited to:
Upon arrival, each client is given an MP3 player that has been preloaded with nearly 8 GB of personally chosen music from our clients, alumni and staff. All clients are given the opportunity to request new music, by filling out what we call our “Songs of Life” form. This list consists of questions pertaining to their recovery in an attempt to find out what songs trigger certain emotions. i.e. a song that gives you hope, makes you feel alive, gives you gratitude, makes you want to stay clean etc. These songs will then be downloaded and added onto their MP3 players under a playlist we call “recovery playlists”.
Clients support each other in the session to help come up with ideas on how to be creative. Client will work with the caseload group and clinician to identify a creative project that may allow them to overcome some resistance and/or anxiety in their treatment and recovery. Suggestions are made by staff and peers. Commitments are made from clients to perform their project at open mic. Clients are asked upon arriving to think of a minimum of three songs that represent their childhood, teenage years, drug use, bottom and recovery. Clients are then given the opportunity to either play those songs for their caseload or explain each song in depth; or do so one on one with their therapists.
Songs of Life exercises help patients compile a playlist of resonant songs in their lives that they associate with meaningful experiences and certain types of emotions, including songs that help them recall positive memories, songs that could be their “theme song”, songs that remind them of childhood, songs that make them smile and cry and songs that inspire creativity, integrity and sobriety. These songs help support a framework for behavioral change for clients who are very often unable to articulate their emotions.
Mic Check Group focuses on one principle pertinent to recovery and one song that best illustrates and exemplifies that principle. Group facilitators lead to discussions as to how best embrace the principle while listening to the song and guiding clients toward more readily embracing the principle discussed. The group ends with clients developing regular goals to better live and adopt the principle in question. Some of the principles include integrity, open-mindedness and perseverance.
Recovery Unplugged recovery playlists allow clients to assemble individual soundtracks to correlate to each individual groups, forming meaningful emotional associates to treatment.
We also integrate live performances, songwriting, musical composition, recording and production into drug rehab.
Drug rehab programs are not unlike songs: they vary widely in specifics, but include a few fundamental building blocks. Effective drug rehab helps clients identify and address the emotional triggers that lead to and sustain drug use. This is generally accomplished through a combination of group therapy, individualized counseling, supplemental therapies and aftercare plans. Aftercare plans are customized to each client’s individual care needs, and include behavioral coping tools to avoid relapse and referral to addiction-trained therapists and support groups to help clients maintain recovery. Drug rehab should be administered alongside medical detox to create a comprehensive drug addiction treatment experience.
While drug rehab and counseling are fundamental parts of the treatment process, they must occur alongside other elements of care, including medically supervised detox, aftercare and ongoing monitoring. Recovery Unplugged offers medically supervised detox at our Lake Worth and Austin, TX locations as part of our full continuum of care. From there, patients can transition into drug rehab. Detox helps clients eliminate the harmful toxins that have built up in their bodies through prolonged and untreated substance use disorder, while helping them overcome their acute physical and psychological withdrawal symptoms. The average length of detox lasts anywhere from three to seven days, depending on progress.
Aftercare plans for drug rehab help clients maintain their footing after the treatment process and provide logistical and behavioral resources to help them build off the progress they made in their program. These programs include referral information to mental health professionals in their area, as well as behavioral coping mechanisms to help them avoid relapse. These plans are critical to helping clients seamlessly transition into everyday life after treatment, so they can minimize or avoid the pitfalls that so often lead to setbacks and relapse.
Recovery Unplugged was built on an innovative and revolutionary approach to alcohol and drug rehab, and we’re fully mindful that everyone pursue this path in their own way. We offer programming for clients embracing multiple types of treatment models, including AA, NA, SMART Recovery and others. Diversity of choice is fundamental to the recovery process, and whether one chooses to go the spiritual or secular root to recovery, we’re here to support them and offer care. We offer referral information to support group meetings in their local communities as part of their aftercare plan so they can continue the healing process.
Recovery Unplugged clients maintain long-term recovery (one year or longer) at a rate of four times the national average.
Our clients experience early AMA (against medical advice) discharges at a rate five times lower than the treatment industry average.
Nearly all Recovery Unplugged clients report a positive, rewarding and fulfilling treatment experience and say they’d recommend our programs to others who need help.
