Recovery Unplugged and Christ Bible Fellowship Church Reunite for Holiday Party and Toy Drive

A revived playoff shot for the Eagles wasn’t the only good news to hit the Greater Philadelphia area this weekend. For the second year in a row, Recovery Unplugged had the privilege of teaming up with Philadelphia’s Christ Bible Fellowship Church to spread the joy and share the toys to local children and families at our Kensington Community Toy Giveaway, Food Giveaway and Holiday Party.

This year, we were joined by a special guest as Philadelphia Phillies’ mascot, the Philly Fanatic chose to spend some of his downtime from the baseball season to come hang out. We were delighted that he was able to use his talent for making thousands of Philly fans smile (and sometimes distract them from the scoreboard) to help out with the holiday party.

This year’s event had all the makings of a great party, including delicious food, a DJ and gifts. The best part of the day, however, was the palpable joy in the room as children and their families ate, laughed, danced and received their gifts. It was a clear and vivid reminder of the unfiltered happiness that comes from giving back during the holiday season. Recovery Unplugged and Christ Bible Fellowship were able to raise $4,000 toward addiction prevention resources in the area, and help over 200 families in the Kensington area; handing out food, toys and a little bit of happiness to all in attendance.

A very special thank you to all the Recovery Unplugged staff who lent a hand, as well as Christ Bible Fellowship Church who continue to make this partnership possible and, of course, the Philly Fanatic. We were honored to take part in this wonderful event and look forward to helping more families next year. Happy Holidays from Recovery Unplugged.
