Miley Cyrus’ ‘Bright Minded’ Series Keeps the World Connected during Coronavirus

Last month, Miley Cyrus launched her Instagram Live show Bright Minded: Live with Miley in an effort to, in her own words “stay lit with love in dark times”. The series is meant to foster conversation, connection and support as the ongoing coronavirus pandemic continues to mandate social distancing. Since the official  launch of the series on March 17, the wise-beyond-her-years, 26-year-old stage veteran has hosted a slew of guests from across the entertainment and pop culture spectrum, including recovery advocates John Legend and Demi Lovato, as well as Reese Witherspoon. More important than its string of A-list interviews, however, is the show’s focus on living a healthy lifestyle.

Sober and Social

This past October, in a now-deleted Instagram post, Cyrus announced that she was four months’ sober, and feeling the best she’d ever felt. On April 20th, she doubled down on her commitment to stay clean with a post that wished everyone a happy 4-20, but also read: “I won’t be smokin’”. As she nears her one-year anniversary of sobriety, Cyrus’ refreshed focus on healthy living and self-care is a reminder that we can not only flourish and thrive in recovery, but that we can also use our newfound energy and commitment to mobilize for change and help others embrace a similar outlook. It’s also a welcome source of connection and support for so many who are feeling the personal impact of self-isolation during this continuing public health crisis.

So far, the late-night series has hit on a variety of health-related topics, and is poised to tackle more, including social media and mental health, , immune boosters, developing and maintaining an active lifestyle, healthy types of anxiety, thoughts and attention/toxins, memories, inflammation and pain, managing and navigating negative thoughts, the importance of taking time to develop and sustain new interests, and healthy sleep.

Bright Minded: Live with Miley airs every Monday to Friday from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. PT (2:30 – 3:30 p.m. ET). Stream it live right on Cyrus’ Instagram page.
