The first step to alcohol recovery is to quit drinking. Alcohol is one of the most dangerous addictive substances to quit using, and you should never attempt to stop drinking on your own without medical supervision. Because withdrawal symptoms can range from mild discomfort and cravings to severe seizures and deadly delirium tremens, a medical detox is recommended for most cases. At Recovery Unplugged we have medication-assisted treatment programs to keep you comfortable and safe as you address your alcohol addiction head-on, providing:

  • A safe and sober place to detox
  • Prescription medications as needed
  • Counseling and therapy
  • Dual diagnosis care for co-existing mental illness
  • Music assisted treatments

“Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit.” Ephesians 5:18

Once you have completed your alcohol detox, you will move into our alcohol rehab in Lake Worth. There are different levels of care, depending on your unique needs as a patient. Alcoholism addiction treatment and alcohol abuse treatment is not a one-size-fits-all program. Depending on whether you have a dual diagnosis, are still feeling withdrawal symptoms and cravings, and what your history of relapsing has been, you may wish to stay in a long-term inpatient rehab, or you may want to get back home as quickly as possible after detoxing.

Inpatient detox is usually a week or so and inpatient rehab usually lasts 2 to 4 weeks and takes place while you live inside the treatment center full-time.

In our partial hospitalization program, you will come in for 6 hours of treatment per day, for 10 to 15 days, while living at home or in a sober living home.

In the intensive outpatient plan, you will come in three hours a day on a customized schedule for recovery treatment, in a program that lasts 10 to 30 days. We also offer virtual IOPs for those who cannot leave the house for health, privacy, or other personal concerns.

Christian addiction outpatient programs for drug and alcohol recovery are designed to help you transition back to your everyday life on your own terms, so these can be lengthened or tapered down slowly depending on how you feel.

At Recovery Unplugged, we offer an integrated continuum of care that combines behavioral health treatments, medical care, psychiatric care, different forms of therapy, and music into one comprehensive plan that is tailored to the needs of each person struggling with addictions. You will either move full-time into our rehab center in Florida for inpatient treatment or live outside the facility for outpatient rehab, receiving treatments that will build you back up, heal old wounds and emotional pain, and help you regain control over your life as a sober person.

Detox usually takes between three and fourteen days, depending on what you are detoxing from. At Recovery Unplugged, your detox treatment plan will include music assisted therapy to help you open up, relax, and get through these difficult few weeks as your body removes the toxins from your system and you begin to regain your health and your strength, while addressing mental illness and other issues.

“But when you are tempted, He [God] will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13

Enduring detox in a drug and alcohol treatment center does not need to be scary, painful, or dangerous to your health. A medical detox program will provide you with individualized treatment that will keep you safe, block strong cravings and pain, and help you get the rest you need through FDA-approved prescription medications that will not create a new addiction.

Inpatient drug addiction treatments, where patients live inside the rehab centers, are better suited for people who:

  • Have co-occurring mental illness or physical health problems that require monitoring
  • Are battling severe drug addiction, especially to opioids, benzodiazepine drugs or alcohol
  • Do not have a sober-friendly place to live, or strong support from loved ones while in treatment

Outpatient drug addiction and alcoholism rehab is better suited to people who:

  • Have completed inpatient rehab for drugs and alcohol
  • Are ready to get back to their usual lives, jobs, school, and family
  • Are no longer experiencing withdrawal symptoms

Christian rehabs for prescription drug addiction are all customized to the individual needs of each patient, as different drugs have different effects on the body. Opioid painkiller drugs may need a longer time in inpatient care due to recurring withdrawal symptoms, while stimulant addiction may require more psychiatric care as these medications create a strong psychological addiction.

Coming to Recovery Unplugged may sound like a big deal, but once you get here and meet our team of empathetic, non-judgmental doctors, nurses, therapists, and other providers, you will see that we are only here to help you. The treatment center is a clean, safe, and peaceful environment where music heals and spirits soar. You will gain insight into yourself, learn new skills, and over time, you will be a drug- and alcohol-free individual with full control over your own life.

Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) is a type of inpatient detox program that, through 24-hour medical care, psychiatric care, counseling and medications like Suboxone, Vivitrol and Sublocade, can help you get through the first few difficult days or weeks of recovery. Detoxing does not need to be traumatic and painful, and with our help managing your symptoms and keeping you safe, you will get through it in no time.

Cognitive behavioral therapy is based on the theory that psychological problems are the result of faulty or unhelpful ways of thinking, learned patterns of unhelpful behavior, and that there are ways to cope and relieve symptoms by changing thinking and behavioral patterns. Emphasis is placed on patients becoming their own therapists, changing problematic thoughts, emotions, and behavior.

DBT is a type of CBT with the goal of helping people live in the moment through mindfulness practices. Patients will develop healthy stress and emotional coping techniques, along with distress tolerance and interpersonal effectiveness for better overall relationships.

REBT is a type of CBT that focuses on a patient’s irrational beliefs, managing emotions, thoughts, and behavior in healthier, realistic ways. Perception of an event can determine our feelings around the event, so challenging core beliefs and negative thinking patterns can help overcome mental distress.

People with a substance use disorder often also have a mental illness or behavioral health issues that need to be treated in an integrated treatment plan that addresses both disorders as interconnected issues. Some of the most common co-occurring mental health issues alongside addiction include:

  • Bipolar disorder
  • Anxiety disorders
  • Major Depression
  • Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder
  • Borderline personality disorder
  • Eating disorders
  • Obsessive compulsive disorder
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder
  • Schizophrenia
  • Codependency

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. Used to treat trauma, EMDR helps patients access and process traumatic memories, bringing them to adaptive resolution. During treatment, the patient focuses on an external stimulus like therapist-directed lateral eye movements, hand tapping, or listening to a series of tones, while working through emotionally disturbing memories. The brain creates new associations with the memory, reducing the negative effects it has.

“Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” 1 Peter 5:8

It is important to remember that addiction is a chronic brain disease. There is a reason that 12-step programs tell their members to take one day at a time, as temptations and triggers may hit you months or even years after you leave rehab. For this reason, having a relapse prevention plan is important. This may include continual participation in peer support groups, a long-term outpatient rehab program, or staying in touch with a strong sober community. You should have people to turn to for support and know what to do when you begin to think about substance abuse again. At Recovery Unplugged, we help you gain tools and strategies to help you resist substances, practice self-control and take responsibility for your own actions, while providing you with the inner strength and the external support you will need to get through these temptations.

When you are overcome with addiction, especially as a teen or young adult, you miss out on early life lessons. This may include seemingly simple skills like cooking and cleaning, or learning how to balance a budget. A life skills training program will help you fill in these gaps, providing tips on personal hygiene, social skills, drug-resistance skills and self-management so you can maintain a normal routine and live an independent life after rehab.

Many people who have suffered a substance use disorder have never officially been in the workforce, nor have they ever had to learn skills like interviewing, resume building, and self-management. These skills will be provided in vocational training to help you with the basics so you can achieve your goals related to self-sufficiency and financial independence after rehab.

Group therapy is a type of psychotherapy in which a number of clients gather to work with one or more therapists at the same time. Topics of discussion are often themed, and therapists guide the conversation, ensuring the group remains respectful and on-topic. Patients will gain communication skills, and will feel support, hope, acceptance, and learn new ways of coping.

  • Process-oriented groups focus on the interpersonal experience of opening up to each other
  • Psychoeducational groups focus on sharing information on a topic like anger management or CBT

Experiential therapy uses activities and expressive tools (arts and crafts, music, role-playing, etc.), allowing the client to focus on an external activity while guided by a therapist to identify and work through emotional responses, allowing them to release blocked negative feelings of shame, anger, and pain.

One-on-One Therapy

Sometimes called individual counseling, one-on-one therapy is when a therapist and a patient meet to discuss personal topics and work through life’s challenges. Patients can work through difficult memories, identify life goals and better understand themselves.

Family Therapy

Involving the whole family, or just a few members, family therapy is tailored to your needs and may include working through trauma, grief, communication, guilt, or interpersonal issues. For families of alcoholics and drug addicts, there may be information provided about addiction, and how they can best support their addicted loved one.

Trauma-informed therapists assume that all clients may have a history of trauma, and take steps to ensure they do not inadvertently trigger or re-traumatize the client while they are in treatment. This includes making sure the client feels physically and emotionally safe, empowered and educated in all aspects of treatment, providing transparent, open and honest care, and ensuring they are up to date on all best practices and cultural considerations.

Exercise in recovery has several benefits, providing clients with a better sleep, higher self-esteem, improved mood, stress reduction, increased energy, and a stronger immune system. Developing a strong routine will add structure to your day, and joining a fitness club, sports team or gym may allow you to make social connections with like-minded people.

Learning how to have fun without substance abuse can be a challenge at first for many people in recovery, so providing off-site activities to patients in residential rehab is a way to give examples of places to go and things to do. Some examples include outings to nature spots, local events and attractions, sports or other physical activities, going to the movies, or trying a new restaurant.

12-Step programs were first established to provide guidelines to help those addicted to alcohol (Alcoholics Anonymous), and as time went on the program was so successful it expanded to other addiction support groups like Narcotics Anonymous or Cocaine Anonymous. Based on spiritual principles, this program provides 12 steps that participants tackle on their own timeline, with some revisiting steps as they go. This treatment model is effective for many people and provides encouragement and community, helping countless individuals stay clean.

Pet-Friendly Rehab

Pets are a part of the family and for many people, having a furry friend may be one of the reasons they do not seek inpatient addiction treatment. At Recovery Unplugged, we eliminate that barrier to treatment by allowing you to bring your animal with you. We accept cats, dogs, and other specific animals, as long as you provide food, enclosures or other appropriate accessories, and ensure your pet has all shots and vaccinations, keeping it clean and safe while you are with us at rehab. Ask our team for more information if you are interested in bringing your pet to rehab with you.

DUI and Drug Court Help

Drug use and drinking can too-easily lead to arrests and convictions for DUIs and drug-related offenses. If you are a first-time, non-violent drug offender who will better benefit from addiction treatment than incarceration, we may be able to help divert you into a treatment program. Some services we provide include:

  • Treatment planning and placement
  • Downward departure facilitation
  • Alternate sentencing facilitation
  • Assessments and written reports
  • Substance abuse evaluations
  • Marchman Act implementation and utilization
  • In-custody or out-of-custody assessment

Intervention Services

If you are thinking about confronting a loved one about their drug and alcohol abuse, but are not sure where to start, you can contact our team and we can connect you with professional intervention services, helping you plan and run your intervention. Many interventionists are in recovery and can provide valuable input, while keeping the conversation on track, acting as a mediator if emotions run high. They may also help with finding appropriate treatment so your loved one can get the rehabilitation they need.

At Recovery Unplugged, our music-assisted treatment is infused throughout the entire continuum of care. We believe that the comfort and emotional connections music creates can help each of our patients better connect with traditional treatment practices. You do not need to be a musician to join us, as every person has their own special connection to music. Some of the active and passive techniques we use include:

Listening to your favorite songs and creating a personalized playlist with emotionally significant songs

  • Creating music, with access to fully-equipped music spaces to record
  • Performing music at open-mic sessions
  • Music-oriented individual therapy and group therapy
  • Movement to music sessions

But let us who live in the light be clearheaded, protected by the armor of faith and love, and wearing as our helmet the confidence of our salvation.” 1 Thessalonians 5:6-8
