At our LGBT-friendly drug rehab centers, we use customized treatment programs that will help you work through the roots of addiction. This process will help you overcome mental health issues, regain strength in your body, and learn new healthy habits and behaviors with the healing power of music integrated into all levels of alcohol and drug treatment.

We take special care to create a safe place for our LGBTQ clients in our rehab centers, as this community has a much higher chance of developing substance use issues, mental health problems, and facing traumatic situations like loss of family support, social stigmas, violence, and exposure to serious drug use.

Alcohol detox is not something that should be attempted on your own, without medical oversight, as withdrawal symptoms can become severe and even life-threatening, with seizures and delirium tremens. Even “mild” withdrawal symptoms like headache, anxiety, insomnia, irritability, sweating, shaking, and sweating, along with alcohol cravings, can become overwhelming, resulting in relapse. For this reason, it is recommended to come to an LGBTQ-friendly rehab center that offers medical detox from alcohol addiction.

All drug abusers seeking treatment are welcome at Recovery Unplugged. Whether you have been misusing prescription painkillers or have been taking illicit drugs for years, we can help you. Our drug detox center provides substance abuse and mental health treatments customized to your own physical health needs, as well as to the drug(s) you have been using, and we will work with you to ensure your detox is not stressful, painful, or frightening. With therapy, medical care, support, and medications, you will stay comfortable and safe as your body begins to recover from drug abuse.

Our comprehensive drug and alcohol detox programs include:

  • Living inside our comfortable, 100% sober detox center
  • 24-hour medical care provided by nurses and overseen by medical doctors
  • The option to take prescription medications that will help you stay safe from issues like high blood pressure, seizures, distress, and restlessness
  • Medication-assisted treatment for substance abuse to help treat cravings and longer-term withdrawal symptoms through a safe tapering-off program that may involve medications like Buprenorphine (Suboxone®), Lorazepam, Phenobarbital, Diazepam, and Librium
  • Music-assisted treatments, therapy, psychological care, and other treatments to help you deal with the emotional and mental health aspects of detox
  • All addiction recovery care is provided by educated, trained, experienced, and credentialed doctors, nurses, counselors, therapists, holistic caregivers, and other addiction experts in the supportive environment of our recovery center.

During drug and alcohol treatment, each person’s detox program is personalized. Because everybody is unique, with their own needs and goals, and because each substance affects each person differently, it is not possible to give exact alcohol or drug detox timeline. Generally speaking, it can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks for you to feel stable and ready to move into the next phase of your treatment.

We offer the full continuum of care for those who need drug and alcohol treatment, with inpatient rehab (residential treatment) and outpatient rehab programs that include our partial hospitalization program (PHP) and our intensive outpatient program (IOP), with an online version of the IOP also available. Once you complete your customized program, we continue to offer access to our services on a flexible basis through our outpatient aftercare program. There are also alumni services available for a lifelong connection to sober support, meetings, friendships, resources, and activities.

Music is incorporated into every step of treatment at Recovery Unplugged because we know that music heals and can help our patients open up and express themselves more thoroughly. We have innovative, inclusive, and supportive care with evidence-based treatments, individual counseling, holistic care, behavioral health and mental health treatments, and other services.

On average, you may spend:

  • 3 to 10 days in detox
  • 2 to 4 weeks in inpatient drug or alcohol treatment
  • 10 to 15 days in partial hospitalization programs
  • 10 to 30 days in an intensive outpatient program

We also have long-term, customizable alcohol and drug rehabilitation aftercare that can last as long as you want, from a few weeks to years, to promote long-term recovery.

Inpatient alcohol rehab is a residential program that takes place inside our rehabilitation centers, giving you a safe, sober environment away from everyday routines and bad habits and the temptations and triggers life outside the center may present. We recommend inpatient treatment to those who:

  • Need a sober-friendly and safe place to live during detox and rehab
  • Have a serious medical condition or mental illness that needs 24-hour medical care
  • Are at risk of relapsing if alcohol is around
  • Want to learn new healthy routines and make big life changes

There are several levels of care available on an outpatient basis through Recovery Unplugged. In these programs, unlike inpatient drug rehab, you will live at home or in a sober living residence and come in for a set number of hours of treatment per week (or login online) on a regular schedule. For substance abuse treatment, we offer:

Partial hospitalization programs

These are outpatient programs in which you come in for 6 hours a day, for 10 to 15 days, treating drug or alcohol rehab as your full-time job, and then returning home in the evening. In the PHP, you receive the same treatments as those in inpatient treatment.

Intensive outpatient programs

There are two types of IOPs, the traditional and online versions. In a traditional IOP, you come in for therapy, groups, appointments, and other activities for two to three hours a day for 10 to 30 days. In the virtual intensive outpatient treatment plans, often utilized by LGBTQ people because of their discretion and safety, you access the same treatments from the comfort of your own home.

Aftercare drug or alcohol rehab is determined by your needs and your level of comfort after you have completed your program. You can stay connected to the services and community our team offers for as long as you wish.

When you live inside our rehab center, you will have busy and structured days with a schedule that includes:

  • Medical treatments
  • Different types of therapy
  • Counseling
  • Education
  • Music
  • Groups
  • Behavioral health treatments

You will live in a secure and comfortable room, with cell phones allowed at designated times. Each of our nationwide substance abuse rehab centers has its own amenities like games rooms, media centers, fitness centers, and music rooms.

Outpatient drug rehabs work well for many people because not only are the schedules flexible so you can live your life as normally as possible, but you can also remain at home, surrounded by supportive loved ones, friends, and family. You also have the opportunity to practice new coping and recovery skills in real-time during your real life and then come back to a non-judgmental and supportive environment to debrief and get professional support. There is also ongoing medication management, medical care, and therapy to promote long-term wellness.

A Medication-Assisted Treatment program (MAT) for substance use disorders involves FDA-approved prescription medications given on a set schedule, usually over several months, to help a patient wean off serious drug or alcohol addiction by easing cravings and withdrawal symptoms as they receive addiction treatment through a drug rehab center.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a type of therapy that helps patients modify thoughts and behaviors, treats underlying emotional disorders, and deconstructs self-destructive behaviors while providing practical skills and tools to help with stress management.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) is a type of behavioral health treatment that integrates distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness into a person’s treatment plan, teaching new ways to replace negative emotions, thoughts, and behaviors with positive actions and new ways of thinking. DBT treats the social and emotional reasons behind addiction.

Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy

Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT) is a type of behavioral therapy focused on rationality, teaching patients healthy coping techniques and new ways to respond to triggers or difficult situations for a better overall outcome, with the view that there is no such thing as a “bad” day, only a negative outlook.

Dual Diagnosis Treatment

Dual diagnosis is a specialized treatment plan integrating mental health disorder treatment like PTSD and depression with addiction treatment, working through both issues at the same time.

EMDR uses tapping, tones, or eye movements that create dual awareness in a patient’s brain, with a focus on sounds and movements while at the same time going over specific traumatic memories. This helps the patient build new emotional ties and thought patterns that are less psychologically disturbing, allowing them to process the memory normally.

Relapse Prevention

Substance abuse treatments often involve relapse prevention strategies because addiction is a chronic disease that often causes bumps in the road to recovery. No matter how good things are going, you may eventually find yourself tempted by drugs or alcohol or being triggered and wanting to fall back into old habits after rehab. Relapse prevention teaches you the signs of relapse before it happens and helps you build a plan that will work for you so you know who to turn to and where to go if times become difficult. Support groups, family members, and rehab centers may be a part of your individual plan, along with healthy habits like fitness and sleeping well.

Life Skills Training

Alcohol and drug addictions can completely take over your life, and for some people, that may mean they have missed out on “the basics” like learning how to pay bills, cook healthy meals, stick to a schedule, etc. A life skills program can help you fill in these gaps so you can live independently after rehab.

Many people’s rehab programming will include help finding, applying to, and holding a job. Getting into the workforce means practicing specific social skills, knowing how to write a resume, excel in an interview, and other skills and a vocational training program can help you get on the right track with your job hunt.

Group Therapy

Just as it sounds, group therapy is therapy in an addiction treatment program that occurs in a group setting. One or more therapists will keep the discussion on track and introduce topics of discussion in a process group, or they may teach about certain subjects like CBT in didactic therapy. Groups can help you feel less alone, gain support, and learn how others handle addiction-related issues in a supportive environment.

Experiential Therapy includes music therapy, art therapy, outdoor therapy, or animal care. By focusing on the activity or experience at hand, patients talk with a therapist about emotional situations or issues in a more neutral manner, helping them reframe memories and emotions in a new way.

Individual therapy is a private discussion between a patient and a therapist, talking about difficult situations, coping strategies, and past issues, along with anything else blocking your life. This type of therapy can help anyone feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or stressed out, promoting better mental health and providing tools to live a healthier and more fulfilling life.

Family Therapy

Every family is different with different needs, so family therapy is a short-term program customized to each family unit. It involves a group of two or more loved ones and a therapist working to overcome difficult situations, problematic behaviors, or feelings of grief, guilt, or stress. When it comes to addiction, families of the addicted person may also wish to get help for themselves or to work with their loved one to find out better ways to help them through this time without creating a codependent relationship or enabling them.

All levels of care at Recovery Unplugged incorporate trauma-informed treatment. We know that when a person has experienced trauma in the past, coming to treatment can rekindle the stress, fear, dissociation, and other unpleasant sensations, so all our staff and care providers know the signs of trauma and work hard to avoid re-traumatization.

Physical Fitness

Physical activity is not only good for the body, but it promotes mental and spiritual wellness. When you incorporate fitness into your routine, you will gain self-confidence, reduce overall stress levels, and improve your physical health. Attending classes, joining sports teams, or creating a routine at the gym will also give you new opportunities to forge friendships with others who have health in mind as you add structure to your life.

Off-Site Activities

Sometimes a change of pace from the routine of inpatient rehab can do you good. Off-site activities will get you out of the rehab center, allowing you to see new places and try new activities, and show you new ways to have fun without drugs and alcohol.

12-Step Rehab in Austin

At Recovery Unplugged, we help our patients connect with local 12-step programs (Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, etc.) because they are effective, and the spiritual aspect is helpful for many people. They provide positive sober relationships, support, and fellowship and help those in recovery forge a new community of like-minded people.

LGBTQ+ Friendly Rehab

LGBTQ+ friendly rehabs should be the norm, but it is not always the case that people of this community feel safe or welcome in every environment. At Recovery Unplugged, we know that many LGBTQ+ people have faced incredible obstacles, trauma, and difficulty and have had issues with authority figures, the healthcare system, and bureaucracy. Our aim is to consistently continue to improve our service to this community and ensure every person who walks through our door feels secure, safe, and welcome, removing doubts and fears so you can relax and focus on healing in our stigma-free facility.

Pet-Friendly Rehab

For pet owners, having to leave their furry friend behind could be the only thing stopping them from getting the help they need, so Recovery Unplugged is a pet-friendly rehab, eliminating as many barriers to entry as possible. We know that having animals around for support and unconditional love can be very beneficial to some people. We welcome pets on a case-by-case basis.

DUI and Drug Court Help

Our team works alongside the court system and can, in some cases, help non-violent, first-time offenders who are eligible for release into rehab. If you are eligible, we may be able to work with you to come to rehab, remain compliant with the terms of your court agreement, and help you avoid jail time.

Intervention Services

Without guidance, an intervention may go awry or fall on deaf ears. If you plan on confronting a loved one about their substance abuse, a professional interventionist can help you plan the intervention, guide you in what to say and how to say it, and be there to ensure the discussion stays on track if things become emotional. They may also be able to provide information on rehab.

Our facility is a music-centered treatment center, bringing music into every person’s individual treatment plan through activities and therapies like making playlists, creating music, listening to music, performing, and watching performances, with music-oriented therapy, movement to music sessions, and access to music spaces where you can record your own songs if you wish.

Virtual Addiction Treatment

Our virtual intensive outpatient rehab programs and mental health care programs offer individual therapy, group therapy, remote monitoring and admissions, education, counseling, medical and mental health services, music-focused treatments, counseling, and alumni support, all available to be accessed from home or wherever you have your computer.
