THE NEED FOR ALCOHOL AND DRUG REHAB IN HOUSTON
Drug and alcohol abuse continue to be a pervasive public health issue in the Greater Houston area. The region has been one of those hit hardest by the explosion of prescription drug addiction in Texas, and the problem is getting worse every year. Data from the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office reveals that heroin deaths in the region have increased to 149 in 2017 from 79 to 2015. Cocaine, methamphetamine and synthetic drugs also continue to be serious problems in the area. Proximity to Mexican drug cartels, as well as other cultural factors, keep Houston squarely in the cross-hairs of multiple substance use and addiction threats.
