Dr. David Kramer Releases White Paper on The Effects of Music in Treatment
In an effort to further illustrate the profound healing powers of music and the modernity and innovation of the Recovery Unplugged treatment model, our very own resident psychiatrist, Dr. David Kramer, has released a white paper on the specialized healing properties of music in clinical addiction care. The document outlines the numerous benefits of music-based substance abuse recovery. It is an illuminating piece that reinforces the continued innovation within this specialized clinical modality and its seemingly limitless potential to help patients struggling with addiction access their, strength, confidence and internal voice. Recovery Unplugged is exceedingly proud of Dr. Kramer and we are delighted to have him as part of our team as we endeavor to offer each patient a quality, well-rounded, music-based care experience.
Below is an excerpt from the paper:
As the addiction treatment landscape has become more and more intuitive and sophisticated, clinicians are discovering that patients are positively responding to a broad range of innovative supplemental therapies. One of the techniques that has garnered a considerable amount of clinical success is music therapy. Music interventions are now well-established therapeutic tools. They have been used for decades in medical and mental health treatment to address physical, psychological, cognitive and/or social functioning for patients of all ages. It is clearly a powerful and non-invasive technique that can result in unique and lasting outcomes, even in those who are resistive to other treatment approaches.
